Abstract
This article discusses the legal essence of liability and punishment for a person who has committed a crime. It analyzes the concept of criminal liability, its grounds, the system of punishments, the purposes of punishment, and the general rules for imposing punishment. In addition, the types of punishment established in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the importance of criminal liability are examined from a scientific and legal perspective.References
