Abstract

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the most common chronic liver diseases and represents a serious medical and social problem of modern healthcare. The growth of obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and insulin resistance contributes to the increase in the frequency of NAFLD worldwide. Modern concepts of the disease pathogenesis indicate a multifactorial nature of its development, including lipid metabolism disorders, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and immune disorders.
